| THE BOY IS BACK IN TOWN - Friday 19/08/2005 |
Our plane landed in Dublin at 07:00 in the morning, so we
had all day. We walked in the town and we liked Dublin very
much.
You could see eveywhere people with Thin Lizzy T-shirts...
it was great!!
After 17:00 the boys from the band started reaching Bruxelles
pub...next to the statue... it was then when I saw Gary
for the first time in my life!!!
It was so nice to meet Zoli, Zara, Eric and many other fans
from around the world (USA, Holland, Sweden, Spain, France,
Hungary...)
At 18:00 the unveiling ceremony started. Phil' s mother,
Philomena couldn' t hold her tears when she was making her
speech to the fans..
It was fantastic for us to watch Gary Moore, Philomena Lynott,
Brian Robertson, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham, Darren Wharton,
Eric Bell and Brush Shiels standing next to Phil' s statue.....
very big moments....
The statue is fantastic!! Incredible! You could see from
old people to babies posing for a photo with it!

| THE BOY IS BACK IN TOWN - Saturday 20/08/2005 |
In the morning, we took a walk in Grafton Street and we
saw the statue again.
We managed to get into Westbury hotel, we met Scott, Robbo
and Eric on the first floor and we took some great pictures
with them, they were very polite and friendly with us.
We went to the Point theatre at 13:00 and we were almost
the first fans. We got inside from the back door and saw
Gary and Robbo on stage doing the rehearsals for Emerald
and Still in love with you. Gary was giving directions to
everybody, even to Downey, for how they should play. Robbo
was playing great! Finally, after some minutes someone asked
us to leave...
At 18:20 the doors opened and we were in the very first
row at the centre of the stage!!
There were a lot of cameras around, for a DVD release.
At 19:00 the support bands started playing, most of them
were not so good and I was expecting from them to play some
Lizzy songs, but they didn' t... I think that they should...
it was Philip Lynott' s night, after all...
Then, Philomena spoke for a while, asking from the fans
to sing "Happy birthday" for Phil and we couldn
't hold our tears...
Brush Shiels alone did a song for Phil after Philomena.....
and then ........
The moment that I was waiting since 1987 was becoming reality
in front of my eyes .......
Gary holded his guitar and started playing!!! And it was
not on video!!! Play list
1. Walking by myself
2. Jailbreak
3. Don' t believe a word (slow + fast versions)
4. Emerald (with Robbo)
5. Still in love with you (with Robbo)
6. Black rose (with Gorham)
7. Cowboy song (with Gorham)
8. The boys are back in town (with Gorham)
Encore 9.
Whiskey in the jar (with Eric)
10. Parisienne walkways
(Gary started it with some lines of Old town and finished
it with the melody of Happy birthday)
What a concert!! ( a little bit short - 75 minutes)
I think that the best moments of the show were the songs
with Scott (especially Black rose), Gary seemed to enjoy
it very much with him, cause Robbo couldn 't play so well...
Eric was very good, too... Brian Downey on drums and Jonathan
Noyce (Jethro Tull) on bass made a tight rythm section....
The crowd was fantastic, many years have passed since Gary
played at such a crazy crowd.. I 'm sure!! And his guitar
playing.. Oh, God!! Reminded of the '80s hard rock years...
I wanted a big finalle with everyone on stage and some words
about Philip, but ... never mind .. it was fantastic!

| THE BOY IS BACK IN TOWN - Sunday 21/08/2005 |
In the morning we met Philomena outside the Westbury Hotel
and when we told her that we travelled from Greece and we
have a tribute band, she invited us to her house!
So, we took the bus and after walking in the rain for about
half an hour we reached her home "White Horses"
in Sutton, Dublin.
She was very friendly and we had the chance to see many
interesting things (Phil 's private items)... gold records,
drawings, rare pictures.....
Philomena even let us hold Phil' s bass guitar! We told
her our plans about the Thin Lizzy tribute band and she
was very excited!
She was so kind to drive us with her car to St. Fintan 's
cemetery, where we saw Phil 's resting place...
Well, this was one of the best weekends of our life!! |
